Extremely honored to have been named a finalist in the 2020 Sergenian’s Rug Design Competition.

This rug, designed in two colorways, was inspired by my Grandpa who passed away from COVID-19 in early 2020. He always had the deepest pockets - full of jokes, cards, and letters. His handwriting was something very special to me - beautiful, smooth, yet oddly hard to read.

For this design, I took the picture of my Grandpa’s handwriting and digitally traced the words “Grandma Judy and Grandpa Slim,” two amazing grandparents who passed away when I was younger. Then, I distorted, stretched, and abstracted the words which ultimately led to the final design.

All three grandparents involved in this design have a very special place in my heart.
